Meet Winkie, our mascot!

Everyone loves a mascot, right? Well… now Mivvy has our very own! Created by our own fair hand, meet Winkie!

As part of our rebranding and in positioning ourselves as wingmates to your business, we hit upon the idea of a mascot. We wanted something that encapsulated the idea of friendly support, and creative collaboration as well as leaning into our company character.

After many iterations and brainstorming ideas, we eventually settled on a messenger pigeon inspired by none other than the decorated legendary war hero pigeon, Winkie.

With our creative studio based on Churchill Square, a converted Officer’s quarters on a World War II airfield in Kings Hill, Kent, we wanted to pay homage to the first-ever recipient of the Dickin Medal, Winkie. The accolade was given, and still is to this day, to animals that showed devotion to duty whilst serving in the Armed Forces.

Homing pigeons were routinely carried on aircraft to be released if the plane got into trouble – messages and coordinates could be secured to the pigeon, and they would carry it home. Winkie was one such pigeon. She was released by her aircrew after they were hit by enemy fire and crashed in the North Sea in 1942 in the hope that she would fly home to Dundee and alert the RAF. She did just that, and the men were safely located within 15 minutes of her arriving after her 120-mile journey. There is a memorial statue of her in Scotland commemorating her heroic efforts.

We consider ourselves to be your wingmates, a team that you can count on to get the job done. We are prepared, passionate and disciplined, ready to go the extra mile for you in any given situation. From the wings, we can see the whole picture, not just the details to affect the success of the overall project.
